If the brows have gone grey or blue and you want them gone, the answer is yes. Laser and saline both lift microbladed pigment, though neither finishes in one appointment. Colour, depth and skin tone decide which method is used to remove microblading, and Dubai clinics quote per session, not per course.
This guide is general information, not medical advice. Laser and saline pigment removal are clinical procedures with real side effects. Book an assessment with a DHA licensed clinician before starting a course, and follow the plan they set for your skin.
Why microbladed pigment is harder to shift than semi-permanent suggests
Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo. A technician opens fine cuts in the skin and deposits pigment into the dermis, the same layer a body tattoo sits in. The strokes are shallower and the pigment softer, which is why brows fade over 12 to 24 months while an arm tattoo does not.
Fading is not clearing. As the pigment breaks down it often shifts colour rather than disappearing, and grey, blue or reddish brows are the usual result. That shift is why many people start looking for removal, and it changes which laser will work.
Three ways to remove microblading pigment
Two of the three actively remove microblading pigment. The third is a decision to stop paying for either and let time do the work, usually alongside a corrective service. Each route suits a different starting point.
| Route | How it works | Suits | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laser removal | Pulses of light shatter pigment particles so the body clears them | Dark brown and black pigment implanted deeply | Iron oxide and titanium pigments can darken instead of lifting |
| Saline removal | A saline solution is tattooed into the skin to draw pigment up into a scab | Light, red, white and titanium based pigment, and darker skin tones | Slow, scab dependent, and repeat passes risk scar tissue |
| Fade and correct | No removal. The brow is left to soften, then reshaped or covered | Brows only slightly too dark or marginally the wrong shape | Nothing is removed, so a heavy old outline stays visible |
A consultation exists to pick between these three, not to sell the first one. Any clinic quoting a package before assessing your brow colour under proper light is guessing. The original procedure is explained in the guide to microblading in Dubai.
Using laser to remove microblading, and why the wavelength decides the outcome
Laser is the faster of the two active methods and the one most Dubai clinics lead with. Q-switched Nd:YAG systems at 1064 and 532 nanometres are the workhorse. Picosecond lasers deliver shorter pulses. A 2026 comparison found overall effectiveness close between the two, with the picosecond device reaching top-grade clearance more often and needing fewer sessions.
Brow work has its own complication. A published case report followed a woman whose blue-green brow tattoo had resisted seven earlier laser treatments elsewhere. A Q-switched ruby laser at 694 nanometres cleared it progressively over five sessions. Side effects were temporary redness and swelling, plus a drop in eyebrow hair density needing separate treatment.
Two lessons come out of that. Seven wrong-wavelength sessions cost money, downtime and skin trauma for nothing, so the machine matters. And laser aimed at brows can thin the hair growing through the treated patch, worth knowing beforehand if your brow is already sparse. Venues equipped to remove microblading by laser sit in the aesthetic clinic and skin specialist categories rather than in brow bars.

Using saline to remove microblading, and where it beats laser
Saline removal borrows the tattooing action itself. A technician passes a salt-based solution through the same skin the pigment sits in, and osmosis draws pigment up into the scab that forms. When that scab lifts, some pigment leaves with it.
Its advantage is indifference to colour. Laser reacts to specific shades, so white, nude, red and titanium-based pigments can be untouched or turned darker. Saline lifts them regardless, making it the safer opening move on pale corrective pigment. It is also often preferred on deeper skin tones, where laser energy carries a higher risk of leaving a pale or dark patch.
The trade-off is speed and skin tolerance. Saline is slower, and healing means a visible scab for a week or more. Overworking one patch can build scar tissue blocking any future brow work. A technician booking you every fortnight to finish faster is not doing you a favour.
How many sessions it takes to remove microblading
Session counts vary widely, so treat any single figure with suspicion. A clinical series of 111 patients on a Q-switched Nd:YAG protocol reported one to eight sessions, averaging 2.5. Tattoo removal chains commonly cite five to ten sessions over 8 to 20 months. One Dubai brow studio publishes a three to ten session range for saline.
| Factor | Fewer sessions | More sessions |
|---|---|---|
| Pigment colour | Black and dark brown | Red, orange, white, nude, titanium based |
| Implantation depth | Light hair strokes near the surface | Deep or over-saturated work |
| Age of the brow | Older and already faded | Fresh, dense and recently topped up |
| Layers underneath | One pass, one artist | Cover-ups stacked over earlier brows |
The gap between sessions is not padding. Six to eight weeks lets the immune system carry away the fragmented pigment. It also lets the skin settle before the next pass, which is what protects you from scarring.
What microblading removal costs in Dubai
Microblading removal Dubai pricing is quoted per session, and most clinics publish nothing until you have had a consultation. Of the Dubai provider pages reviewed for this guide, one brow studio lists saline removal at AED 1,000 for a 30 minute session. Consultation and patch test are free. Follow-up sessions cost the same again. Two laser clinic pages list no price.
| Line item | Published Dubai basis | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Consultation and patch test | Free and included at the studio reviewed | Whether a patch test is charged separately |
| Saline session | AED 1,000 for 30 minutes | Whether the price covers one brow or both |
| Laser session | Quoted after assessment at the clinics reviewed | Ask for the per-session price and the device name |
| Full course | Session price multiplied by 3 to 10 | The only figure worth comparing between clinics |
Run that arithmetic before booking. Mid-tier microblading in Dubai sits around AED 800 to AED 1,500. A removal course of even three sessions can cost as much as the brows did. A long course costs several times over. The full price picture for the original service is broken down in the guide to what microblading costs.
What not to try at home
Search results for home methods to remove microblading are dominated by creams, scrubs, rosehip oil and lemon-based remedies. None of them reaches the dermis, the only place the pigment is. They reach the surface, and repeated abrasion or acid on thin brow skin causes scarring and lasting discolouration.
- Removal creams sold online work by burning the top layer of skin. Pigment sitting below it stays.
- Scrubbing and exfoliating acids thin the skin without moving pigment.
- Deliberately wrecking aftercare on fresh microblading to fade it faster invites infection.
- Picking scabs during saline removal pulls skin, not just pigment, and that is how scars form.
Waiting is the one free option carrying no risk. If the shape is acceptable and only the colour bothers you, doing nothing for a year and reassessing costs nothing.
Who may legally remove microblading in Dubai
Two licences matter here and they are not interchangeable. The Department of Economy and Tourism issues the trade licence that lets a salon or clinic operate as a business, and that licence on its own covers no clinical work. Any facility performing a clinical procedure also needs a health facility licence from the Dubai Health Authority. The person performing it needs a DHA professional licence for that scope of practice.
Lasers fall on the clinical side. A brow studio holding only a trade licence is not licensed to fire a laser at your face, whatever its social media shows. Saline removal sits closer to the permanent makeup permit governing microblading itself, so the two services can legitimately look different on paper. The safety picture for the original procedure sits in the guide on microblading safety.

Four questions worth asking before the first session:
- Which device will be used, and at which wavelength for my pigment colour?
- Is the facility DHA licensed, and is the person treating me licensed for this procedure?
- What is the per-session price, and what happens if the pigment darkens?
- Am I on any medication ruling this out right now?
The last one is not a formality. Clinical protocols routinely exclude patients who used isotretinoin in the previous six months, because of the raised risk of scarring and pigment change.
Healing between sessions in Dubai heat
Freshly treated skin is inflamed skin, and inflamed skin in strong sun is how post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation starts. Dubai’s UV index sits high most of the year, so the sun rule separates a clean course from a patchy one.
- Stay out of direct sun between sessions, and use a high-factor sunscreen once the skin closes.
- Skip pools, the sea and the hammam until any scab has lifted on its own.
- Expect redness and swelling for a few days. Prolonged redness, hypopigmentation and scarring are the recognised adverse effects.
- Air conditioning dries healing skin. Follow the ointment routine the clinic sets rather than improvising.
Book around the calendar too. Five sessions at six-week intervals occupy most of a year, so anyone with a fixed date should count backwards before starting.
When colour correction beats a full course to remove microblading
Complete clearance is not always the goal. Many people want a new brow rather than a bare one. The plan there is to lighten the old pigment enough for a technician to work over it. Two or three lightening sessions can be enough where a full course would have taken eight. Directory listings carry colour removal as a service in its own right.
If the appeal was fuller-looking brows rather than the tattoo itself, a non-permanent route is worth pricing first. Brow lamination restyles the hair you already have and washes out in weeks, which retires the removal question entirely.
Where to find microblading removal in Dubai
A microblading removal Dubai search returns brow studios and laser clinics side by side, and the two are not licensed for the same work. Pigment removal is listed under tattoo removal in the directory, because the technique is the same whether the ink is a sleeve or a brow. salonsindubai.ae lists 80 Dubai venues offering tattoo and pigment removal, and a separate set of 55 venues list microblading itself, useful if the plan is to remove and then rebuild.
Listings are a research starting point, not a recommendation for any procedure. Filtering by tattoo removal narrows the list to venues carrying that service; confirm licensing and device directly with each one. The ranking methodology sets out what the directory verifies, and the wider Dubai salon directory covers everything else.
