Scalp micropigmentation cost in Dubai runs from AED 525 for a single short session booked through a platform to AED 16,300 for a staged full-scalp course at a clinic. Specialist studios that price by artist rather than by course sit above even that, passing AED 20,000 for three sessions with a named director. Most people covering a receding hairline or a thinning crown pay AED 4,000 to AED 8,000 across two or three sessions.
The figures on this page are a market snapshot, not a quote, and none of this is medical advice. The technique puts pigment under the skin with a needle, so whether it suits you depends on your scalp, your skin type and your medical history. Speak to a DHA-licensed clinician or a licensed practitioner about your own case before you book.
What scalp micropigmentation costs in Dubai at a glance
Three things set the price: how much scalp needs covering, how many sessions that takes, and who is holding the needle. A hairline touch on a man in his twenties is a two-session job. A full shaved-head look on a Norwood 6 scalp is three or four sessions of four hours each, and the price follows the chair time. Male pattern baldness, alopecia patches and post-transplant scarring each price differently because each needs a different amount of coverage.
The tiers below are course prices, not per-session prices, so they already assume the repeat visits. Read them as the range a Dubai provider would quote for finishing the job rather than starting it.
| Tier | Typical price | Duration | Room | Products | Staff experience | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entry | AED 1,500 to 4,000 | 2 to 3 sessions, 2 to 3 hours each | Permanent-makeup studio or salon treatment room | Standard SMP pigment, single-use cartridge needles | Junior to pro artist, under 1,000 treatments | Hairline only, one bald patch, or a small scar |
| Mid | AED 4,000 to 8,000 | 3 sessions, 3 to 4 hours each | Dedicated SMP studio or aesthetic clinic room | Matched pigment blend, patch test, topical anaesthetic | Pro artist, over 1,000 treatments | Crown and mid-scalp density, receding hairline |
| Premium | AED 10,000 to 16,300 | 3 to 4 sessions, 4 to 5 hours each | Clinic treatment room with a named master artist | Multi-shade custom blend, staged density build | Master artist or clinic director | Full shaved-head look, transplant scar camouflage, repair work |
Anything advertised under the entry band is almost always one session of a longer course, or a small patch rather than a zone.

Per session, per zone or per course: why two quotes are not the same number
This is the trap in every scalp micropigmentation price you will read in Dubai. One clinic advertises from AED 999. A specialist studio down the road advertises from AED 8,000. Both are honest. They are measuring different things.
Dubai providers price the same procedure four different ways: by session, by scalp zone, by staged density build, or by finished course. Only the last one is the number you actually pay. Here is what each way of quoting converts to once the treatment is finished.
| How the quote is priced | What Dubai providers advertise | What the finished job costs |
|---|---|---|
| Per session, salon or grooming lounge | AED 525 to AED 2,500 | AED 1,050 to AED 7,500 over two or three sessions |
| Per session, named artist | AED 6,000 to AED 8,000 | AED 18,000 to AED 24,000 over three sessions |
| Per scalp zone | About AED 2,000 a zone | AED 4,000 to AED 6,000 for two or three zones |
| Per staged build | AED 1,999, then AED 3,999, then AED 5,999 | AED 11,997 for all three stages |
| Per finished course | AED 1,500 to AED 16,300 | The same figure, with nothing added later |
Ask which of those five rows a quote belongs to before comparing it with anything else. The scalp micropigmentation listings in our directory show the same spread, because venues in different price tiers describe the treatment in the same words.
What a full course costs by treatment area
Area is the single biggest driver, and Dubai clinics publish it in fairly consistent bands. The figures below merge the published price tables of two Jumeirah clinics that list their scalp work openly, so they represent the clinic tier rather than the cheapest end of the market.
| Area treated | Course price | Typical sessions |
|---|---|---|
| Hairline only | AED 800 to AED 4,000 | 2 |
| Crown or a single bald spot | AED 2,500 to AED 6,000 | 2 to 3 |
| Top of head | AED 5,000 to AED 8,000 | 3 |
| Crown and hairline together | AED 7,000 to AED 10,000 | 3 |
| Full scalp, shaved look | AED 8,000 to AED 16,300 | 3 to 4 |
| Transplant scar camouflage | AED 1,750 to AED 6,000 | 2 to 3 |
| Female density through the parting | AED 5,000 to AED 9,000 | 2 to 3 |
Female density work sits high in that table for a reason: it is blended into existing hair rather than drawn onto bare skin, which takes longer per square centimetre.
The three kinds of provider in Dubai, and what each one charges
Price tier tracks licence type more closely than it tracks quality, and knowing which of the three you are talking to explains most of the spread.
- Gents grooming lounges and permanent-makeup salons, AED 525 to AED 2,500 a session. These run on a Department of Economy and Tourism trade licence, with the practitioner working under a health permit for the procedure. Common in Al Warqa, Umm Al Sheif and Jumeirah Village Circle. Many barber shops now list scalp work beside beard and skin services.
- Aesthetic and dermatology clinics, AED 3,500 to AED 16,300 a course. These hold a Dubai Health Authority facility licence, and the person treating you holds a DHA practitioner licence. They price by zone, they usually run a patch test, and they are the tier to use if you have psoriasis, eczema, keloid scarring or a recent transplant. Browse aesthetic clinics and hair transplant clinics to see which venues sit here.
- Specialist SMP studios, AED 6,000 to AED 8,000 a session. A small group of studios do nothing else and price by artist seniority, junior through to a named director. A three-session course with the most senior artist in the city passes AED 20,000, which is transplant money for a non-surgical result.
Whichever tier you pick, ask to see the venue’s DET trade licence and ask which DHA permit or licence covers the individual doing the work. A venue that cannot answer that in one sentence is the wrong venue at any price.

What the quoted price leaves out
The advertised figure is rarely the figure that leaves your account. Five things get added or deferred, and only the first is obvious.
| Line item | What Dubai providers charge |
|---|---|
| VAT | 5 percent, and some clinics publish prices excluding it |
| Booking deposit | Around AED 1,000, non-refundable, deducted from the final total |
| Consultation | Free at most studios, charged at a few clinics |
| Correction inside the first year | Included by some, billed at about AED 1,000 an hour by others |
| Top-ups later on | AED 800 to AED 3,500 a session as the pigment softens |
The pigment itself stays in your skin for life, but the visible result lightens on a schedule, which is why the course is never a one-time payment. Our guide to whether scalp micropigmentation is permanent sets out that timeline in full. Get the top-up policy in writing at the consultation, because it is the line that separates a AED 6,000 course from a AED 6,000 course plus AED 3,500 every few years.
Why scalp micropigmentation prices vary this much in Dubai
Five factors account for most of the gap between one quote and the next, and only two of them are about the treatment itself.
- Rent. A DIFC or Jumeirah clinic room carries overhead that an Al Warqa lounge does not, and roughly a third of the gap between tiers is address rather than technique.
- Artist seniority. Studios that grade their artists charge two to three times more for a director than for a junior on the identical scalp.
- How many sessions your scalp needs. Density is built in layers, and a high-contrast scalp, meaning very fair skin with very dark hair, usually needs an extra pass to blend.
- Pigment and equipment. Custom multi-shade blends and single-use cartridge needles cost more per session than a single stock pigment.
- Hotel and tourist positioning. Venues attached to hotels price 15 to 30 percent above an equivalent room a few streets inland.
How to pay less without buying a repair job
Cheap SMP is not automatically bad SMP, but the failure mode is expensive. Blue-grey pigment migration and a hairline drawn too low both cost more to correct than the original work cost to buy, and correction is charged by the hour.
- Book the hairline first and the crown later. Splitting the course across two budgets is normal and no provider will object.
- Take the junior or pro artist at a studio that grades its team, rather than the cheapest venue in the city. The pigment and the protocol are the same.
- Ask for healed photos taken at three months or more after treatment, and older work where the studio has it, rather than day-one photos. Day-one work always looks sharp.
- Treat a free consultation as a shortlisting tool and collect three of them before committing a deposit.
- Check what the price covers in writing: number of sessions, the first correction, and the shade used.
A few hair replacement studios quote scalp micropigmentation alongside hair systems, which is worth a price check if you have not settled on a route yet. Our note on how listings are ranked sets out the rating and review thresholds a venue clears before it appears anywhere on this site.

What the top of the market buys
Above AED 10,000 the money stops buying pigment and starts buying judgement, because at that level scalp micropigmentation is a design job as much as a technical one. A named artist designs the hairline to your bone structure and your age rather than to a template, blends two or three shades so the scalp does not read as one flat tone, and stages the density over three or four visits so the result can be corrected upward instead of lightened downward.
That tier also tends to include the first correction, a written shade record for future top-ups, and follow-up at three months. For a full shaved-head look on a scalp that will be seen every day, it is the difference the money is genuinely paying for. For a hairline touch-up, it is not.
How Dubai compares with Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE
The SMP price UAE clinics publish is not reliably lower outside Dubai. Several of the clinic groups that rank for scalp micropigmentation Abu Dhabi market both emirates on a single page and run one price list across them, so the saving people expect from crossing the border is often not there at all. Independent studios in the northern emirates do sit lower, though the pool of artists doing scalp work full time is much smaller.
Travelling for a saving also rarely works out, because this is not one appointment. A three-session course means three round trips inside about six weeks, plus the correction visit later. Get the quote in writing from both emirates and weigh the gap against four drives before booking on price alone.
Questions to ask before you accept a quote
- Is this figure per session, per zone, per stage, or for the finished course?
- How many sessions is my scalp likely to need, and what happens to the price if it needs one more?
- Is the price inclusive of the 5 percent VAT?
- Is the deposit refundable, and does it come off the total?
- Is a correction included, and for how long after the last session?
- Which DHA licence or permit covers the person doing the work, and can I see the venue’s DET trade licence?
- What will a top-up cost in four years, at today’s prices?
A provider who answers all seven without hedging is quoting you a real number. One who cannot is quoting you a starting point. If you are weighing the surgical route instead, the cost detail sits in our guide to hair transplant in Dubai, and the treatment itself is covered in the hair tattoo guide.
